Milma to supply ghee for Sabarimala pilgrimage season

Thiruvananthapuram: In a major testament to its high-quality dairy products, Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) has selected Milma to supply ghee for making prasadams for Sabarimala, Pamba and Nilakkal temples during the Mandala Pooja and Makaravilakku pilgrimage seasons, starting from November.

In a landmark decision, Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB), which administers the famous Sabarimala Ayyappa temple and other temples in the group, has decided to place the delivery order for Milma Ghee to Milma, as per its requirements.

TDB authorities had held discussions on the proposal with Milma officials. A proposal to set up Milma stalls at Sabarimala, Pamba and Nilakkal is also under TDB’s consideration.

Welcoming TDB’s decision, Milma Chairman, Shri K S Mani said this was a huge endorsement of Milma’s high-quality products and its impeccable record of delivering orders promptly. Shri Mani thanked the Devaswom Minister and the state government for facilitating Milma to play an important role in one of the country’s largest pilgrimages, which draws millions of devotees from different states.

The Director Board of the Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (KCMMF), known by brand Milma, also lauded the government as well as the Minister and the Devaswom Board, for taking such a decision that would benefit lakhs of dairy farmers and strengthen the dairy cooperative movement in the state.

TDB has arrived at this decision after a thorough evaluation of Milma Ghee by its high-power review committee, which found it to be of high quality. Milma’s southern regional union, the Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (TRCMPU) will be carrying out the supply of Milma Ghee to TDB.
